Dreamworks is doing something even Pixar hasn’t tried: A black female heroine

DreamWorks Animation Studios has announced the addition of a black female heroine (gasp!) to its repertoire of white dogs, green ogres, snails, Neanderthals, pandas, white people and Antz. In doing so, it joins an elite club consisting of … well, nobody.

Not one major Hollywood studio has released a 3D animated feature starring a black character.

"I don’t want this one, mommy. He’s sarcastic."

Weekend Box Office - 4/13/2014

With Rio 2 opening this week, Mr. Peabody & Sherman dropped to 10th place at the box office. It earned $1.8M this past weekend, adding to a domestic total of $105.2M and a worldwide total of $248.3M.

miss-nan:

Look at him. He looks so disappointed and sad because Sherman would rather run off and play with Penny than spend some father-son time with him. This is right after Da Vinci tells Peabody to “let him go”. Of course, he means it in the sense of “let Sherman do his own thing” but it’s obvious that it’s meant to have a double meaning. Peabody does appear to take it a different way, because his expression gets progressively sadder as he realises his son may be slipping away from him.

I saw Mr. Peabody and Sherman today.  It was pretty good. :)

After the movie, I went and bought some overpriced coffee so that’s why I drew Peabody with a coffee mug.  Mid sketch, I realized that coffee was probably not good for dogs.  And now I know not to give animals caffeine. The last three are kind of what I think Sherman might look like when he’s older….I don’t know. :I
